In association with Calvary Baptist, Julie serves in a ministry called REthink, which helps university students to understand God's work in all the earth and their place in it.
Its primary focus is Penn State, but it also looks beyond to neighboring campuses and the surrounding community. People touched by this ministry will have a deeper view of what God is doing in history and how they can be involved in a meaningful way no matter where they are or what they are doing in life.
The centerpiece of Julie’s ministry is the “Perspectives on the World Christian Movement” course, which is offered in the State College area every Spring Semester. This 15-week class meets one evening per week and features different instructors with expertise in:
· Seeing the unity of the Bible, beginning with Abraham’s call to bless all the peoples on earth;
· Observing the mechanisms through which God’s plan has played out in history;
· Understanding the relationship between Christianity and culture; and
· Wrestling with strategic issues in God’s work today.
Julie is a native of State College and long-time member of Calvary. She previously served cross-culturally for 12 years in Kinshasa, Congo, and then was based in Orlando for four years with a non-profit that supported Africans in their ministries. She has traveled extensively, especially in Africa, and holds an MBA, with in interest in ministry sustainability and the intersection of business and missions.
